As a parish family, we extend our deepest sympathy and prayers for those among us who have lost loved ones. We are here to accompany our families through their time of mourning and provide the Funeral Services of the Catholic Church to bring peace and healing.

If you are preparing the funeral for a loved one, please contact the funeral home first. The funeral home will then call our parish to arrange a date and time for the funeral. One of our funeral coordinators will call you to set up a time to plan the funeral liturgy.

Please review our Funeral Planning Guide for procedures and suggested readings and hymns for the Funeral Mass. The last page can be filled out with your preferences and finalized with the funeral coordinator. Please visit our Funeral Music page to listen to hymn selections.

• Funeral Pre-Planning: Please pick up a blue Funeral Pre-Planning Folder from our parish office or info rack outside of the parish office. The folders contain an introductory letter, funeral guidelines, cremation guidelines, a funeral liturgy planning form, and a pamphlet on leaving a legacy gift to the parish. Pre-planning a funeral can help family members know your wishes and the wishes of the Church when it comes to important questions like cremation, burial, and having a Funeral Mass. Your family will appreciate you taking the time do the planning, and it will give you the peace of mind that your final arrangements are in order and in keeping with the teachings of Christ and His Church. Please contact our parish office if you would like to meet with one of our funeral coordinators to assist you in this process. Completed forms should be placed in the person’s will, and copies can be provided to our parish office and the family contact(s) entrusted with making arrangements for the funeral.

If you are considering cremation, please read the Cremation Guidelines compiled by one of the priests in our diocese.

We may be able to provide a luncheon following the funeral services in our ABC Room (for small parties) or Banquet Room (for large parties). Please call our parish office to ask about availability and pricing options.

Vigil Service
If you are holding a visitation (wake) at the funeral home, please let us know if you would like one of our priests or deacons to come and offer a brief Vigil Service with readings and prayers.

Funeral Mass
The Funeral Mass is the time we unite our prayers for the deceased and for one another with the Eucharistic offering of Jesus Christ, the firstborn of the dead. The funeral coordinator will assist you in planning the readings and songs for this Mass.

Committal
Please let us know if you are processing to the cemetery after the Funeral Mass or at a later date. One of our deacons, priests, or personnel from the funeral home can offer committal prayers.

Other Services
The ordinary Funeral Rites of the Church include the Vigil, Funeral Mass, and Committal. Depending on familial circumstances, one or more of these ordinary services may not be possible. We will work with your family circumstances to provide the services we are able.

• Funeral Liturgy Outside Mass - When a Funeral Mass cannot be celebrated, a Liturgy of the Word Service with Final Commendation may be celebrated in the funeral home. This liturgy is not a Mass and does not include Holy Commununion. This service could take place at the Vigil/Wake.
• Memorial Mass - A Memorial Mass is offered for the deceased when his or her body or cremains are not present, and when no funeral liturgy has yet been celebrated on behalf of the deceased.
